My daughter separated from her common-law mate this past year. Much to our horror we found out children are considered a possession until 18. In Texas it doesn't matter whether he pays his child support or anything else he still has his rights. He was reported to CPS and cleared very quickly and all we heard from CPS was his rights! Never mind about my poor grandchild. My daughter chose mediation. She was brow beaten for 4 hrs. We thought once school started it would be the every other week-end and 6 to 8 on Wed. But no his lawyer snuck in another paper. Now her school wk is a complete mess. We have her Mon. thru Wed he has her Thurs and Fri. and if it's his week-end all the way thru Sun. Mind you this man is an abuser who took no interest until my daughter got the courage to walk out. Now thru the laws of this state he is able to stalk her. He is able to control her to a degree. He is able to use the child as a pawn. If you meet me for this or that you can have more time with her. So if there is other women out there please speak up. We have to go back to court, fight to have mediation thrown out and of course more money. I'm writing and calling my reps please do the same.
